MTAA Welcomes the Launch of the Farm and Industrial Machinery Dealers Association of Australia

12 Jul 2006

The Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA) today welcomed the launch of the Farm and Industrial Machinery Dealers’ Association of Australia (FIMDAA). FIMDAA is an Affiliated Trade Association of MTAA and is the peak national representative organisation for farm and industrial machinery dealers in Australia. FIMDAA aims to promote high retail and service standards, while assisting members in meeting their occupational health and safety obligations. FIMDAA supports the introduction and maintenance of training and education programs for FIMDAA businesses, particularly in relation to hazard reduction in their workshops, and has also called for the introduction of measures that will assist FIMDAA members in retaining their employees during times of drought.

Farm and industrial machinery dealers provide high levels of service and support to communities, particularly in rural and regional areas. FIMDAA members are committed to ensuring that their staff are highly trained and to maintaining skill levels in their communities through the employment of apprentices and trainees.

Following the finalisation of registration with IP Australia, the FIMDAA logo and acronym are now registered trademarks. Mr Michael Delaney, Executive Director of MTAA, said “securing the property rights in the FIMDAA name and logo will ensure that FIMDAA can firmly establish its place in the industry as the peak national representative association for farm and industrial machinery dealers”.

“The formation of FIMDAA will help to ensure that farm and industrial machinery dealers throughout Australia can obtain the necessary information and support that they require to carry on their businesses. It will also ensure that the interests of the sector are actively and effectively represented at a national level.”
