ATDRA

The Australian Tyre Dealers & Retreaders Association (ATDRA) is an Affiliated Trade Association of the Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA).

The MTAA is the national peak body for the whole retail of the retail, service and repair sectors of the Australian automotive industry. The Association is a federation of the Motor Trades Associations and the Automobile Chambers of Commerce in each State and Territory. The Association’s affairs are directed by a Board on which each of the Member bodies is represented. Under it’s Memorandum and Articles of Association; the Association has a number of Affiliated Trade Associations (ATA’s) which represent particular aspects or activities of the retail motor trades.

Objects of the ATDRA

  1. To promote and develop technical advancements and the application of new techniques for tyre retailing for the benefit of tyre dealers and Australian consumers.
  2. To disseminate technical data, statistics and other information to Members of the ATDRA.
  3. To act in an advisory capacity to Members and to assume and act upon such powers as may from time to time be deemed desirable by the ATDRA.
  4. To promote and by every means possible advance the ATDRA in Australia and to preserve the interests of Members.
  5. To promote, support or oppose legislative, customs, tariff or other measures adversely affecting the ATDRA and to deal with any restrictions preventing or interfering with the carrying on of the industry.
  6. To lay down a Code of Practice whereby the transaction of business relating to the ATDRA may be simplified and facilitated.
  7. To do all such lawful things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objets or any other of them as may be deemed necessary or expedient in the best interests of the ATDRA.

Rules that govern the ATDRA

The ATDRA, is a Division of the MTAA. It operates under rules laid down under Article 88 of MTAA's Articles of Association.

ATDRA organisation structure

Each State or Territory Chamber having a Tyre Division elects a State Delegate to the ATDRA Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee meets twice per annum.

One meeting is an Annual General Meeting and is usually held in conjunction with the ATDRA National Conference and Exhibition each June. At the AGM a National President and Vice President are elected. The outgoing President holds the office of Immediate Past President in an ex-officio capacity continues to attend meetings of the ATDRA Executive Committee.
